Boneset was a favourite remedy of the Native North American tribes. The Menominees used it to reduce fever, the Iroquois and Mohegans for fever and colds, the Alabamas for upset stomachs and Creeks for body pain. Native Americans also used Boneset for arthritis, indigestion, constipation and loss of appetite.

Gather boneset and tie above doorways as a way to keep out evil spirits. It is an uncrossing herb, especially in baths. Carry boneset with angelica and devil’s shoestring in a bag to ward off hexes. Likewise, use to guard against unnatural illness. Other magical properties include rulership by the planet Saturn and the element of water.
